With the Oscars now over and done with for another year, I couldn’t help but be impressed by the glitz and glam of the movies as I got into my car, an ickle
Chevrolet Matiz, on Monday morning and drove to work. On my way to work though I had a little thought that cheered me up and made me feel a little more glam on a rather cold March morning and felt the need to start blogging again after several years just so I could share this thought with the webosphere...my car was in a recent Hollywood blockbuster (Transformers 2) so therefore it, and by association, I, must be just as cool and glamorous as Hollywood!
A slightly tedious link you may think but just look at the cars as you drive home from work tonight, I bet you’ll see a
Ford Mondeo similar to the one that Daniel Craig drove in Casino Royale, a
Mini Cooper like those driven by Jason Statham and Charlize Theron in the remake of the Italian Job. Indeed you may see an original mini as driven by Michael Caine in the original, and arguably far better, Italian Job. You might also see a
Volkswagen Beetle reminiscent of the Herbie movies or a
Mercedes similar to the one that Kim Cattrall’s character drove in the last Sex and the City film. If you see any
Audi, chances are it featured in the last Ironman film and will probably be in the next one too – it seems like that film featured the entire
Audi range!
I’m sure that the perfectionist-type-directors of our time give just as much thought to the cars their actors drive as the clothes they wear and the lines they speak. Perhaps we do the same, have you ever noticed how some people’s cars seem to match their personalities so perfectly – I have a friend who drives a purple
Ford Fiesta, it’s cute and zippy and although not the most outlandish car in the world, its colour helps it to stand out a little more – just like her. Another of my friends has just bought a little
Mazda MX-5, again it’s very much like her – petite and incredibly popular, she took great pride in telling us that it’s the world’s best-selling two-seater sports car, although she still won’t let me drive it! I’m not quite sure what my bright orange
Matiz, affectionately nicknamed tangerine, says about me? Hopefully that I stand out and that nobody misses me in a crowd?!
Anyway, I digress...the point is that if you need a little Hollywood style glamour in your life today, just take a look at your car and remember that chances are, it is a true Hollywood star and that you are, therefore, just as cool as the Daniel Craigs and Charlize Theron’s of this world so throw on a pair of sunnies and get cruising!
